In the latest incident, armed goons reached the spot at night, threatened the entire staff, after making them stand in a line, and told them that they would abduct the engineer.

The incident has sent shockwaves among the staff including the officials, engineers and the labourers. After the incident, the work has stopped. The bridge is being constructed on the border of MP and UP, at the cost of 67 crore.

The goons came in two separate vehicles, and woke up the staff when they were asleep. They said that they wanted to take away the engineer. The goons thrashed the workers and later threatened that they would take him away. Also, they hit one accountant in the head and robbed money.

Around Rs 20,000 cash was looted. “The staff was threatened and told to stop the work immediately. They also fired in the air”, said a bridge company employee. “For almost an hour, they were here, threatening us and mistreating workers”, he added.

After the incident on July 20 night, the company officials lodged a report. The company director, Akash Khushwani, lodged an FIR. A case of robbery and assault has been registered. Also, local police have reached the spot and have decided to post Special Armed Forces (SAF) personnel as guar.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Singh Kushwaha has also visited the construction site and promised to take action in this regard. However, the engineer, Sushant Mishra, said that after the threat, it is difficult for him to work on the site. The police, however, say that the accused would be arrested and security would be provided to the employees.
