Story – Kabir Singh is an official remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. This is the story of short tempered doctor Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor), whose love for his girlfriend Priti ( Kiara Advani) has no bounds. He is aggressive, obsessive and would go to any extreme for his love. It is love at first sight when he sees Priti. Things are smooth but Priti’s father does not agree to the proposal of marriage. He insults Kabir and he had to leave her. The story reunites both in a different situation and the climax settles it all.
Review- Shahid Kapoor has played his character very good. He completely surrenders himself to the extremism of Kabir Singh. He plays Kabir with passion and perfection. He has taken a lot of screen space and no other character could overtake him. Even the leading lady Kiara could not get much space. But her performance with limited footage is up to the mark. With such limited scope, she has really impressed with her performance.
The second half has moments of repetitions many times. The pace is slowed at many places with many scenes undeniably long. Writer-director Sandeep Vanga Reddy has tactfully developed the character of the hero.
The remake stays mostly true to the original. Film’s music is popular and many songs are rated high on music chartbusters.
Kabir Singh is a movie with change from stereotypical love stories. Shahid fans may like him in this type of new role.
