Nestled in the heart of South Delhi, 1Oak Café & Bar has been a regularhaunt for many since its inception. Doused in nostalgia and revamped to perfection, the hub has now made a comeback with a delectable new menu, tempting cocktails to sip on and a whole new look with vibrant, quirky and new age interiors!
Says KanishkTuteja on the new avatar of the place “The growing consumer needs for new and preppy has led us to revamp the 0utlet”. Well you bet he’s right for people can’t stop thronging in even on a weekday afternoon partake in the ambience. The upgraded look is rustic yet plush, vintage yet young and social media-friendly with comfortable sofas and neon yellow sign-board quotes spelling out ‘But first cocktails’ and ‘One of a kind’. We subsequently learn that 1Oak takes these shoutoutsquite seriously as we sip on the food friendlynegronis and Whiskies Sour.
They also have a serene terrace with upbeat furniture perfect for those Instagram posts, casual dates and Sunday brunches.
If you are a wine person then their Rose Sangria won’t let you down! With vinous aromas of sliced orange, dried cherries, cinnamon, notes of black cassis balanced off by a light oaky flavour, this one is a winner. The fruit punch like concoction (still wine) neither overpowers the senses nor steals the food’s thunder; it silently plays the passive yet all important role of washing down the food and facilitating conversation.
For appetizers we tried the pesto chicken fries(pesto marinated chunks of chicken and the Jalapeno Paneer Tikka (cottage cheese in a tandoori marination)
The new menu serves an array of scrumptious cuisines like Japanese, Lebanese, Thai and Chinese and the manager boasts of leaving patrons salivating and wanting more.
Sure to enhance your gastronomic experience, some signature main course dishes at the restaurant to try include Sicilian arancini, Wrapped chicken, Dan dan noodles amongst various others. Cocktails to look out for include Rob Roy , Night and Day , Elderflower ; Grape tonic, Oak smoked negroni and Chocolate mint martini.
The music is groovy and the right cocktails will set you in a heady space that will last till the end of your evening. While the portion sizes are generous, the pricing is endearing and competitive.
Our advice? Ditch the dessert. Some were unavailable and the Nutella cheesecake with chocolate ganache described as ‘soft and smooth textured’ in the menu turned out to be salty, rubbery and somewhat bitter.
But who has space for dessert after such a delectable meal?Visit this place with friends, colleagues or bae for an unforgettable experience, One more time.
