This film is sequel to the 2014 original. Top cop Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) is up against a ruthless young serial killer Sunny (Vishal Jethwa). The story is based in Rajasthan’s education hub Kota. Brutal and chilling saga of rapes and murders by psycho killer shocks the town. The killer is on the loose and there are no clues to nab the culprit. Heinous crime continues and the remorseless killer even challenges Shivani to stop him if she can. Shivani gets on the mission to nab the killer before he strikes again.
Writer-director Gopi Puthran puts the theme of his film from the very first scene. He is successful in creating the atmosphere for the story. He has handled the story very efficiently. Once again Rani Mukerji impresses with her character and plays the role very well. She never lost her grip on the character and performed superbly. She captured the true emotions in the role of top cop dealing with heinous crimes, rape victims and a psycho killer. She has kept balance in her role as a strong and emotional woman.
Vishal Jethwa has surprised us with his powerful role as serial killer. It is his debut movie and he has given matching performance against powerhouse performer like Rani Mukerji. He has perfectly played the character of a Rajasthani with his superb local accent of Kota. Villain constantly outsmarts the cops which create drama and suspense quite at times. The film points to gender inequality and bias in our society.
The film is very fast and good performances keep us engaged throughout the Showtime. The narrative is very smartly woven and script has no lose points. There are no dull moments in the story.
The film is a brutal story about heinous crimes against women which is hard to see on screen. The film is worth watch for strong performances by Rani and the new comer.
