Madhu Chopra says Priyanka Chopra misses Hindi Cinema and there is no way she can give up on them
With her choc-a-bloc schedule in Hollywood and her many international commitments apart from her production banner; Priyanka Chopra has been unable to do justice to her Bollywood career. When she last visited India in April to promote her Hollywood film Baywatch, the actress revealed that she had locked three films in Bollywood but would be able to talk about them only after her schedule for Quantico.
The general speculation is that the actress, who has carved for herself a successful career in Hollywood, may now find it difficult to allot dates for her Hindi projects. The actress is currently shooting for the Indie Drama, A Kid Like Jake, after which she is expected to start shooting for the comedy, Isn’t It Romantic, before she returns to start shooting for the third season of Quantico.
However, according to her mother, Madhu Chopra, there is no question of Priyanka giving up on her Bollywood assignments. “Her heart lies in India and Hindi cinema and there is no way she would do injustice to it. She often says that she is missing Hindi cinema,” she said.
According to Chopra, Priyanka would be looking at starting her first major Bollywood film next year, after she wraps up her Hollywood assignments this year. “A majority of Priyanka’s commitments are for this year. After Baywatch, she had a very small break so she couldn’t have accommodated a Hindi film. That’s why she chose a Hollywood film, which is expected to get over in a maximum of 30 days. Hindi films generally need a minimum of 50-60 days commitment and she didn’t have that window. Next year, after Quantico is over, she will have the window and devote a good amount of time and pick her films,” Madhu Chopra clarified.
Priyanka’s last Bollywood outing was Prakash Jha’s crime drama, Gangaajal, in which she played the role of a feisty Superintendent of Police, Abha Mathur, leading to a debate on women empowerment.
