Aishwarya Rai Bachchan unleashed a flash of floral power to her first red carpet appearance at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. She appeared on the second day as the personification of Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty. A close examination of her Gaurav Gupta-designed suit explains the halo-like piece behind her head as the shell from Botticelli’s classic artwork The Birth Of Venus. In an Instagram post, the designer analyzed the actress’s appearance, writing:”Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wears The Venus Sculpture; a custom Gaurav Gupta Couture gown for the 75th Festival de Cannes. Inspired by the birth of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, rising from the scalloped shell; she transitions from the infinite, pure as a pearl.”
The actress made her red carpet debut in a huge Dolce & Gabbana gown with floral motifs and a sleeve extension of 3D flowers. She saw Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick during a screening.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has been a regular guest at the Cannes Film Festival for many years, has graced us with a few noteworthy red carpet ensembles throughout the years. She attended the 2014 Cannes Film Festival in a gold mermaid gown by Roberto Cavalli, accessorised with cherry lips and flawless hair. She became the embodiment of Cinderella a few years later.
Deepika Padukone leads the pack as a jury member at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Pooja Hegde, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tamannaah Bhatia, AR Rahman, Rickey Kej, and R Madhavan are among those who will attend. Hina Khan and Helly Shah, both TV stars, strolled the red carpet. Akshay Kumar was also among those invited. He had to postpone his trip, though, after contracting Covid-19 during the weekend.
