R Balki pays homage to Bollywood legend Guru Dutt with a teaser release of his film

The Chup teaser was released today, July 9th, on the birthday of Bollywood legend Guru Dutt. In a homage to him, the teaser directly refers to the critique that Guru Dutt faced when his masterpiece Kaagaz Ke Phool was released.

R Balki commented on the teaser, saying, “Guru Dutt’s Kaagaz Ke Phool is one of the many films that is seen as iconic today but was strongly criticized when it was released. Should we be more sensitive to an artist’s work or should the artists be less sensitive about what is being written about their work.”

Chup is R Balki’s debut in the blood and guts genre. The film is being billed as the first of its kind in the world, and it is a global thriller. His films have always piqued the interest of fans, critics, and peers alike, and his subject matter has frequently made headlines. The disruptive filmmaker has made a lasting impact with his groundbreaking ideas and original school of thought, breaking through the clutter.

Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, the south cinema Superstar, Shreya Dhanwanthary, who made a name for herself with Scam: 1992, and Pooja Bhatt, who recently made a massive comeback with Bombay Begums, star in the film. R Balki directed the film.

For the unversed, R Balki wrote the original story, and the screenplay and dialogues were co-written by R Balki, critic-turned-writer Raja Sen, and Rishi Virmani
