Her unprecedented popularity in Tamil and Telugu cinema earned her a place in Hindi films and her on-screen energy and beauty took her to the top. It’s been five years since the actress left for heavenly abode and is still remembered everytime we recall the era of the ‘90s. The actress had reportedly died after drowning in a bathtub in a Dubai hotel on February 24. Her sudden demise left everyone in shock.

The 1989 film Chandini featured our beloved Sridevi in the main role as Chandni. It featured her torn between two lovers played by Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna. The film, directed and co-produced by Yash Chopra, was a big hit at the box office and Sridevi’s performance was especially praised by critics.

Sadma:

The movie that launched Sridevi’s career, Sadma, is regarded as one of her best pieces of work. She portrayed a young girl with retrograde amnesia who behaved like a child. She performed it alongside Kamal Hassan, who played the role of a teacher who falls in love with her and frees her from the brothel where she was imprisoned.

Nagina:

The best movie to show off Sridevi’s exaggerated characteristics is definitely Nagina. Being a genuine snake or naagin, she was required to do some remarkable dance routines in songs like “Main Tera Dushman.” The movie’s main focus was a naagin who was out to avenge the death of her beloved.

English Vinglish:

Sridevi returned to the silver screen after a hiatus of 15 years in Gauri Shinde’s heartwarming drama English Vinglish. In the film, Sridevi played Shashi, a middle-aged woman, who’s often belittled by her own family. Sridevi’s performance resonated with the audience, and she personified the everyday struggle that many women go through daily.

It is her last film which marked the 300th film of her career. She played a mother who sets out to avenge the rape of her daughter. It is an emotional and heart renching story and Sridevi portrayed her character very well.
