‘Tiger abhi zinda hai?’: Congress teases Jyotiraditya Scindia, asks ‘why are you in a cave with tail down’

Team Absolute|Bhopal The political battlefield in Madhya Pradesh is in a perpetual state of volatility, even four months after the Bharatiya Janata Party toppled the Congress establishment from power following the ‘Scindia blow’. The bitter taste of the fall of the Kamal Nath government within just one-and-a-half years of being in power in March 2020 has left the Congress party disgruntled in MP, and they have constantly taken swipes at the chief architect of that fiasco – Jyotiraditya Scindia. The Congress on Monday took a dig at BJP MP Scindia over his “tiger is alive” remark a few months ago, and questioned the defector’s “silence” on issues such as non-payment of salaries to contractual teachers and scrapping of the farm loan waiver scheme by the current Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.
“He (Scindia) had once said (in July) that ‘tiger abhi zinda hai’ (tiger is still alive). Why did this tiger not venture to serve people in the Gwalior- Chambal region in the last five months? But now in this jungle raj, he is going to meet saffron party leaders in Indore and Ujjain to retain cabinet berths for his loyalists who toppled the Congress government in March,” Jitu Patwari, MLA and chairman of the MP Congress media cell, told media persons in Bhopal. He asked “….Scindiaji come out to the streets. Why are you hiding in a house now? Why are you in a cave with tail down?”. Patwari said that the royal was on a tour “to do political management in the wake of a petition in court challenging the over-sized Madhya Pradesh cabinet.” Scindia is currently doing a door-todoor run to meet BJP leaders to protect his loyalists from being sacked from Chouhan’s Cabinet, Patwari alleged. “In Congress, Scindia got immense respect. He was our big leader. The party leaders used to go to his house and to be around him seeking tickets for elections,” the Congress MLA said. Scindia had quit the party in March to join the BJP with around 20 of his loyal MLAs.
