Mumbai: Zoya Akhtar has been making headlines recently for her impending directorial debut, The Archies. The film is an adaptation of the well-known comics, and it will mark the big screen debuts of three famous children: Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, and Janhvi Kapoor’s sister Khushi Kapoor. The trailer for The Archies was posted earlier this month, and it quickly went viral on the internet. Now, Zoya has spoken up about the project, admitting that she is anxious about making The Archies.

Zoya recently told The Hindu that The Archies was a part of her childhood and adolescence, and she is excited to bring the characters to life on screen. However, considering the characters’ global renown, the acclaimed director admitted that she is frightened as well. Zoya was quoted as saying “I’m currently shooting The Archies as a feature film, and that hopefully will be out next year. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic, and yet resonates with young adults today”.

Meanwhile, Agastya, Suhana, and Janhvi have received a lot of praise for their roles as Archies, Veronica, and Betty, respectively, ever since Amitabh Bachchan released the teaser. Zoya, who shared the preview, wrote, “Ain’t nothing like old school. Grab your gang ’cause the Archies are coming soon on @netflix_in! ” In addition to the main youngsters, Vedang Raina, Dot, Yuvraj Menda, and Mihir Ahuja will play important parts in The Archies. The Archies is set to debut on Netflix next year.
