Donations pouring in for Home ministry’s Bharat Ke Veer scheme

In its efforts to provide some more help to the family members of the martyred security personal of paramilitary, the government launched a scheme under which donations provided by anyone will help these families directly.

There are seven such forces that come under the home ministry including CRPF and BSF. The scheme launched as ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ by Union home minister Rajnath Singh and film star Akshay Kumar sometimes ago has been able to generate enthusiasm among donors and generated big money. The Home Minister himself is keeping a close watch on this scheme.

Sources in the ministry informed that the portal launched by the home minister has been able to generate `21 crore up to October 18, 2017. The ministry sources informed that donation for this could be an open ended donation and also a closed ended donation. This donation could be a secret donation and also could be given directly to the family members of the martyred but funds are pouring in.

There is a provision that account numbers of such family are provided in the ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ portal and as sources informed that one such family received `11 lakh help from these donations. Any donor can donate maximum up to `15 lakh to a martyred family and if anyone donates more than that the extra money could be sent to some other family.

Ministry sources informed that this corpus is being managed by a committee constituting eminent person of repute and senior government officials of the equal number who would otherwise be responsible for equitable distribution of funds. Sources informed that the home minister is very much concerned about the family members of martyred security personal so he too is keeping a close watch on this scheme. These forces included CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, Assam Rifles, NDRF and SFF.
