Rich tributes were paid to the memory of Badrikashram Jyotirpeeth Shankaracharya Swami Madhavashram ji Maharaj who passed away on October 20 last. The function was held at the Shiv Mandir at Manorama Nagar of Thane city.
As a mark of tribute to the departed saint a bhandara was organised at the temple wherein around 200 devotees took the benefit.
The speakers at the function recalled the contribution of the departed saint to the society and especially the guidance he gave to the members of Shree Bhagwan Parshuram Sena which was formed by his inspiration. He blessed the Sena by visiting Thane sometime back and also participating in the Parshuram Yatra here.
In his speech the President of the Parshuram Sena, Om Prakash Sharma stated that in the parting away of the Shankaracharya we are terribily at loss and his wishes of construction of the Ram Mandir remained unfulfilled. The secretary of the Sena Avinish Pandey also paid his tributes besides others.
The Shankarachaya passed away on October 20, in Chandigarh, where he was staying after suffering a paralytic attack about two years ago and was 76 at the time of his death. The Sanskrit scholar, whose body was brought to Uttarakhand , and given a ceremonious burial (bhoo- samadhi) at an ashram in Rishikesh. The Shankaracharya had great command over many subjects and his life was dedicated to Sanatan traditions. He always taught the society to tread the correct path.
