Show-cause notices were served on DSP Dattatrya Shinde and city DySP Deepali Kale for dereliction of duty while handling a murder case, in which five police cops allegedly murdered suspected accused Aniket Kothale in police custody and then burnt his body in Amboli ghat section.
IGP Nangare-Patil said that as the city police station’s inspector Ravindra Shelke was on 15-day leave, instead of giving charge to DSP Shinde and Kale, Sub-Inspector Sameer Chavan was given the responsibility. DSP and DySP have been given eight days to reply to the notice.
Patil had also ordered departmental inquiry against five cops, who were arrested for murdering Aniket. A special police team has also been appointed for inquiry of illegal properties of accused PSI Kamate. Meanwhile, Bhumata brigade president Trupti Desai has demnaded that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also state Home Minister, should expel IGP Nangare-Patil and DSP Shinde for their irresponsible attitude while tackling the murder case.
Ms Desai demanded that the government should give Rs 25 lakh as financial aid to Kothale family members and a government job to Aniket’s wife and take all responsibility of his daughter’s education.
