Tata Literature Live! 2017: concludes with the discussion on the Father of the Nation

Three authors who have written books on Mahatma Gandhi – Makarand Paranjape, Professor of English at Jawaharlal Nehru University; Mark Kurlansky, American journalist and writer; Dr. Shimon Lev, Israeli researcher in Indian and Jewish studies – provided an international perspective on the legacy of the ‘Father of the Nation’ in a riveting session moderated by journalist and author Rajni Bakshi at Tata Literature Live at NCPA. Tasneem Mehta, Managing Trustee and Honorary Director, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum hosted fellow directors of three of the world’s leading museums – Eugene Tan(National Gallery Singapore); Eike Schmidt (Uffizi Galleries, Italy); and Tristram Hunt (Victoria and Albert Museum, London) – in a thoughtful discussion on how the museum experience can be both altered and enhanced by digital responses in an increasingly digital age. Executive Director of Tata Sons R. Gopalakrishnan’s latest book ‘A Biography of Innovations’ was launched by Nadir Godrej, Managing Director of Godrej Industries, in the presence of Anil Kumar Gupta, globally renowned grassroots innovator, and Kiran Karnik, renowned authority on the broadcasting space and outsourcing industries in India, followed by a captivating discussion on innovation in India, moderated by award-winning journalist and author Mini Menon. Kalpana Sharma, independent journalist and columnist with The Hindu; Vrinda Grover, lawyer and human rights activist; and Catharine Mackinnon, path-breaking American legal scholar and Professor of Law at the University of Michigan came together for an informative session on how the awareness of, and the laws pertaining to, sexual harassment have developed over the years.
