Tributes paid to Ambedkar on 61st death anniversary

Various political parties on Wednesday paid floral tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Indian Constitution drafting committee, on the occasion of his 61st death anniversary (Mahaparinirwan Day).

Various programmes are being organised in the city as well as across the eight districts of Marathwada to pay tributes to the Dalit leader by the various factions of the community.

In Aurangabad city, various Dalit outfits, political activists, organisations took out rallies and paid homage and garlanded the statue of late Dr Ambedkar at Bhadkal gate. Various schools’ students gathered at different corners and paid homage to the leader.

Programmes like blood donation camps, candle marches, pad yatras, tree plantation drives and special lectures were organised inside the campus of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

Meanwhile, the elaborate security arrangements have been made in the region to avert any untoward incident as yesterday was ‘babri demolition day’, said police.
