The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has ordered a departmental inquiry against civic staff over charges of corruption in the implementation of a project to install CCTVs in the under construction building at the civic headquarters.
A civic official on Thursday said that preliminary inquiry has revealed wrongdoing in the CCTV network installation project in the under construction building. A departmental inquiry has been ordered against the civic staff accused of corruption, he added.
The Sajag Nagrik Manch had alleged that corrupt practices were adopted in issuing tenders to set up a control room. LCD monitor and a digital podium with four high- definition CCTV cameras. According to manch representatives, the cost of one CCTV is mentioned as Rs 5.24 lakh while the actual cost of the same is Rs 81,999 in the open market.
Similarly, the cost of LCD monitor is mentioned as Rs 12 lakh, while the actual market cost is Rs 72,000.
