The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against an IPS officer in connection with the alleged assault with several army officials in Indore about two years back.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in connection with the alleged assault with several army officials in Indore in the past.
The incident had occurred on September 11, 2015 in Vijay Nagar. The High Court had asked CBI to inquire and investigate it. Now the CBI has registered case of illegal confinement and assault.
The petition was filed in the court, seeking action against policemen. The army officers had visited a lounge at BCM Heights in Indore and were leaving for Mhow when policemen came and asked officers to leave.
The armymen said they were waiting for their colleagues and after clearing bill, would leave. However, policemen allegedly began abusing army men and passed derogatory remarks. Later, the IPS officer arrived and despite armymen identifying themselves, the policemen beat the armymen with sticks and weapons.
The army officers were dragged and beaten up in police station too. The army officers reached fractures, broken limbs and injuries. Later, they had to be referred to Military Hospital and much later to Command Hospital, Lucknow.
Over 150 army men had later reached Indore from Mhow, entered police station, and taken away the officers. After this conflict, police had registered case of robbery and rioting against armymen.
After it reached HC, the court asked CBI to probe. Now, a case against IPS officer has been registered. Other ‘unidentified policemen’ have also been made co-accused in this case. A CBI team met police officials recently and began probe in this regard.
