On The International Day of Elimination of Violence against women and girls’ which was observed by General Mazdoor Sabha (GMS) in Thane recently more than 50 persons participated.
Police Officer Anajali Bhalerao, of the Crime Branch of Thane police inaugurated the event which was held at the Ram Ganesh Gadkari lawns.
Mrs. Bhalerao,Self Defence officer,Counsellor and Legal advisor of the Office of the Commissioner of Police,Crime Branch, Thane guided the participants on how to lodge a complaint, various departments and committees to handle the grievances and also gave a live demonstration on how to safeguard oneself if someone attacks on the road, in train, bus or even in the house.
Sanjyot Vadhavkar, President, General Mazdoor Sabha,Thane (HMS), informed the participants about the various forms of violence and harassment against women and girls at workplace as well as in the society. She also told the participants on the need to have a sexual harassment committee at workplace and its role. All present took the pledge saying, ‘All forms of violence against women are unacceptable. Say no to violence’. Surekha Patil-Local Corporator,.Vaijayanti Joshi-Counsellor, Artika Ashdhir from ITF graced the occasion.
