Writer-Director Divyansh Pandit’s short film ‘Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan’ has been nominated for the best film category in Filmfare awards. The film has also been nominated in the Jury. Satish Kaushik and Shishir Sharma are playing important roles in the film with other cast.
Divyansh Pandit has worked as an assistant to famous director Raj Kumar Santoshi in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’ and ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ . Last year too, his film ‘Lallan from Allahabad’ was nominated for Filmfare award.
Divyansh Pandit’s father was a cricketer and he also followed his father’s footsteps. He was trained and played under noted cricketer Praveen Amre. His life and priorities changed when unfortunately his mother fell ill. She was admitted in a hospital and worried Divyansh took care of his ailing mother. He was more interested in Mobile games after this incident. He started playing games of popular characters like Superman and other characters.
Finding him involved in mobile games, his mother’s sister advised him to do something creative. It gave him inspiration to work in Bollywood and thus he started assisting noted director Rajkumar Santoshi. It gave him experience and an insight into film making. After sometime, He started his own production house – Wild Buffaloes Entertainment. He started making short films on important social issues. He made a short film on Mumbai Police.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan lent his voice for this short film. This short film was appreciated by Bollywood personalities like Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor and many more. Another short film ‘Happy Independence’ was appreciated by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitely.
Divyansh Pandit wants to follow Raj Kumar Santoshi’s footmarks. He has learnt a lot of things in film making from him. He also likes films by famous directors Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap. He says that every film is an art film and there should be no difference. ‘Tiger Zinda hai’ and ‘Newton’, both the films are art films in his opinion. Films require artistic skills and no film can be made without this approach.
He is also fond of Shreeram Raghvan’s films. He has been an ardent fan of Ram Gopal Varma’s films in earlier days.
Divyansh started his first feature film with Santoshi’s team members. He is only 26 years of age and millions of dreams in his eyes. He says that he has enough time to learn and make movies. His vision and aspirations are highly appreciable at such a young age. We wish him all the success in film making.
