Designer Anupamaa Dayal celebrates ‘broken souls’ at LMIFW

Designer Anupamaa Dayal decided to promote the feeling of happiness among people with a colourful showcase of her Spring-Summer 2019 collection on the opening day of the Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week (LMFIW) here on Wednesday.

Dayal’s collection had patchwork and bright prints, which set a mood of fearlessness. The ensembles had a spectrum of hues, giving a glimpse of a rainbow one after another.

It was Japanese culture which inspired Dayal to bring out a colourful line.

“The Japanese believe that when an object has suffered damage and has history, it becomes even more beautiful and the gold in the cracks are homage to this. So in this collection, we celebrate being broken and the art of golden repair,” Dayal said.

Models dazzled the ramp in Dayal’s vibrant collection with a huge smile on their face instead of the straight face they usually carry. This left the audience happy too.

Colours like pink, green, yellow, blue and red were mostly used in the outfits.

As starfish has its ability to regenerate new limbs when the old ones get damaged, so to inspire people to reinvent themselves, the designer used star fish motifs in her collection.

Dayal said she used a sustainable approach for her collection and that she believes in endorsing the female form.

“More power now and forever to every woman — broken, joined, intact and invincible.”
